How to Use Pearl Millet Flour (Bajra Flour)

Since bajra flour is gluten-free, it doesn’t rise like wheat flour, so it’s often mixed with other flours or used in flatbreads and porridges.

1. Bajra Roti (Millet Flatbread)
   - Mix bajra flour with warm water and knead into a dough.
   - Roll into thick rotis and cook on a hot griddle.
   - Best served with ghee, jaggery, or spicy curries.

2. Bajra Khichdi
   - Cook bajra flour with moong dal, ghee, and spices for a nutritious porridge.

3. Bajra Dosa / Pancakes
   - Mix bajra flour with rice flour, yogurt, and water to make a batter.
   - Cook like a dosa or pancake.

4. Bajra Cookies & Laddoos
   - Combine roasted bajra flour with jaggery, nuts, and ghee to make energy balls or cookies.

5. Thickening Agent
   - Use in soups, stews, or gravies instead of cornstarch.

6. Fermented Foods (Bajra Dhokla / Idli)
   - Mix with yogurt or ferment with sourdough for a fluffy texture.

Tips for Using Bajra Flour
✔ Best for Winter– Traditionally eaten in colder months for warmth.
✔ Combine with Other Flours– Mix with wheat, sorghum (jowar), or amaranth flour for better texture.
✔ Roast Before Use – Enhances flavor and reduces bitterness.
✔ Store in Airtight Container – Prevents moisture and rancidity.
